Basic & Main Design

The role of MJ (Megajoule) as a consultant or designer in the project development is the successful guidance of the client (owner/developer/investor of the project) through every requested stage of design development of the wind,  solar power plant, or a hybrid of those which can additionally include a battery energy storage system (BESS) . Throughout the phases of design development, the role of Megajoule as a designer and consultant is to lead the design process from idea to finalization in a way that uses the rules of the profession, its knowledge, experience and skills, and creates an optimal design or blueprint of the given power plant for the client. Beyond just the project, Megajoule takes care to follow the best industry practices and standards in order to achieve optimal performance for the investor in bringing the project to completion. In other words, the design process does not end only with the draft, but with the monitoring of changes and additions depending on time-space limitations, legal and other legislation relevant to the project, as well as the state of the domestic and world energy, equipment and industry markets.

Descriptive Memory

A Descriptive Memory (DEM) is a fundamental document in the development of renewable energy projects in Portugal, including wind farms, solar power plants, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). It provides a structured and detailed overview of the project’s key technical, environmental, and regulatory aspects. Serving as a reference for stakeholders such as developers, regulators, and investors, the DEM ensures clarity in project specifications and compliance with applicable regulations. By compiling essential information about the site, planned infrastructure, and operational considerations, this document helps streamline project approval processes, minimize risks, and support informed decision-making.

Owner’s/Lender’s Engineer

As Owner’s Engineer (OE), we represent clients throughout the development and/or operational phases of their projects to ensure their delivery within the specifications, business plan, financial requirements and design brief as set out by the client.
Combining global experience with expertise, we have a full appreciation of the complete risk profile in a renewable energy project from feasibility to operations. We, therefore, bring value to our clients’ bottom lines by acting on their behalf throughout a process to ensure mitigative measures are put in place where relevant, thereby reducing the risk of delays or unforeseen costs.

Supervision

Supervision (SUP) is closely connected to OEN/LEN services and in this case is the legally required supervision from the technical point of the view for the project. Usually this means to have the appropriate electrical/civil and mechanical supervision engineers on a weekly basis on site to confirm and fulfill the necessary construction log. It is always important to have locally licensed engineers for this purpose which fulfill the necessary requirements. MJ offers this service without OE/LEN only in Croatia and Portugal, and in other countries only as part of a package.

Tendering Technical Support

The term tender technical support (TTS) relates to wind/solar/battery/hybrid energy projects (BESS) and the need of the Client to select a contractor that will do either EPC (solar PV plant) or BoP & TSA (wind farm). This can be done either during preparation of preliminary/main design of the project or immediately after it, depending on the Client needs and purposes.
The process of TTS can be done in two stages, which can be contracted and prepared independently of each other, however the best results can be achieved with MJ handling both stages.
MJ aims to ptovide independent guidance to help the Client choose the best techno-economic solution for project implementation.
