Due Diligence & Feasibility
We deliver thorough technical due diligence to identify risks and validate project status in every phase of development and operation and feasibility to define project viability in development.
Feasibility
The term Prefeasibility (PFES) and Feasibility Study (FES) related to wind/solar/BESS energy projects is used for assessments of a project and its technical and financial sense. (Pre)Feasibility studies consider the results from a wind resource or solar resource assessment (preliminary or a full one, depending on the phase of the project). Both prefeasibility or a full feasibility study needs to prepare or review the existing designs and analyze and confirm them. The regulatory framework of the country also needs to be analyzed. Additionally, a financial model needs to be prepared which will define the basic CAPEX/OPEX of the project and the income, cash-flow, NPV, IRR etc. The exact scope per project depends also on Client input and it can include hybrid projects which would integrate wind + solar + BESS.
Technical Due Diligence
The technical due diligence (TDD) focuses on the key areas related to the project development or operation in case the project is in operation. It consists of assessment of all permits (environmental, grid connection, construction permits or its predecessors, others depending on the country), all designs (preliminary, basic, main or detailed), annual energy production (AEP), site visit (if applicable), all contracts (for construction, grid connection, O&M, PPA etc.) and business/financial models, all inspection and maintenance logs as well as historical operational reports in case of an operational project, all from technical point of view. The exact scope per project depends also on Client input in terms what is necessary. A TDD can be prepared for vendor or for banks or for project takeover, depending on the needs of the Client.
As mentioned above, due diligences (DD) that we offer include wind farms, solar power plants or battery energy storage system (BESS) or their combination, depending on the scope of works. The DD for projects in development have a higher focus on permits and current state of development of the project as well as resource assessment, while for operational projects there is a bigger focus on the status of the equipment and project itself and the way operation and maintenance is handled as well as the comparison of resource assessment that was planned and what was actually achieved.
We also have experience and can provide on certain markets a complete DD which can include legal, financial and even tax part in one comprehensive scope offered together with our partners.
